Warriors in NBA Finals for first time in 40 years
By Bi Yu posted 5/30/15

Warriors with Western Conference TrophyThe Golden State Warriors continue their record setting season having scored themselves a ticket to the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is a perfect nouveau match-up of the league leading Warriors who racked up a franchise best 67 regular season wins.  After a 12-3 playoff record they get to face the Cavaliers with LeBron James, the best player on the planet.

Six year veteran Stephen Curry was the best player in the NBA this year as he won the NBA trophy, the only Warrior MVP since they moved from Philadelphia in 1962.  They became the San Francisco Warriors for the next 10 years, before they moved across the Bay to Oakland in 1971 and dubbed themselves the Golden State Warriors.

Their 1974 team lead by Hall of Famer Rick Barry and Coach Al Attles won their only NBA Championship Title as they swept the heavily favored Washington Bullets.  Fast forward 40 years and first year Coach Steve Kerr has the Warriors as the precipice of their second NBA title.

King James who knows how hard it is to make it to the Final is in his fifth consecutive and second one in Cleveland.  The past four years the four-time MVP brought the Miami Heat to the Finals and won 2 championships.  Although none of the current Golden State players have won an NBA Title, but Coach Kerr won 5 Titles as a player with Chicago and San Antonio.

This NBA Finals should be one for the ages.

Tim Duncan is still the Spurs leader.  With all the San Antonio talent, Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginoibli, 18-year veteran Tim Duncan is still the teams center piece.
