Iguodala and Speights Top 7 in 6th Man voting 2
By Bi Yu posted 4/20/15

The Golden State Warriors are in the running for pretty much every NBA of the Year award after concluding their record setting season. The Warriors bench has impacted this story line as much as other components. That is why two Warriors, Andre Iguodala (100 pts.) and Maurice Speights (20 pts.) were in the Top 7 players for 6th-man of the year.

Golden State who has blazed a franchise record 67 under rookie Coach Steve Kerr has someone in contention for all NBA awards. Kerr is in the top two to be Coach odf the Year battling Atlanta Hawks Mike Budenholzer. Stephan Curry had an elite break-out season now leading the MVP race over James Harden, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.

They could have two players up for defensive player of the year in Draymond Green and Bogut even though Curry led the league in steals. The Warriors could have as many as four players in the "most improved" category (Klay Thompson, Green, Speights and Curry). The Warriors General Manager Bob Myers should get a good look for GM of the year after adding Shawn Livingston and Leandro Barbosa. Myer's biggest move was not gettinng trading Thompson for a Kevin Love in the off season. Thompson has has a breakout season of his own.

The Warriors as a team have been inpenetrable. A league-high 67 wins, with only two home losses. Golden State is number one in team offense and number one in team defense. They lead the league in scoring, shooting percentage, 3-point percentage and assists.

Toronto's Lou Williams did win the 6th Man of the year with Isaiah Thomas and Jamal Crawford rounding out the top 3. Williams in his 10th year out of South Gwinnett High School in Georgia is averaging a career-high 15 points in 25 minutes to go with 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

NBA 6th Man-of-the-Year Award Voting:

Player Team 1st Place (5 pts) 2nd Place (3 Pts) 3rd Place (1 Pt) Total Points
