Cal battles over Colorado 57-50
By Adrian Henderson

Cal Kravish blocks Colorado Default1/12/12 Berkeley, Calif. -- On a night full of plenty uncertainties, California Golden Bears (14-4, 4-1)  the only team in the Pac12 with an unblemished home record at 12-0 managed to grind out an ugly 57-50 victory at Harmon Gym against the new kids on the block of the PAC-12, the Colorado Buffaloes.

“We held tight and didn’t fold tonight”, said Cal Coach Mike Montgomery. Colorado was riding into Harmon with a six game winning streak and the best record in the PAC12.

This game was a defensive battle from the jump, Cal’s top player, the ever resilient Jorge Guiterrez was 1-10 from the field during the first half.  Cal’s big three scorers Guitterez, Crabbe, and Cobbs were a combined 6-37 from the field, matching their lowest point total of the season. Cal as a team shot 35% for the game and still managed to pull out the win.

Colorado Default three pointerColorado did not fare any better and shot a dismal 31.9% for the game. Cal held Colorado to 25% in the second half to climb back from a 29-22 half time deficit. It was the first time this year the Bears were behind at the break in a home game.  Colorado’s bright spots for the night were  Austin Dufault 19pts and fellow super sophomore Andre Robert’s 14 rebounds and 11 points. All night CAL struggled. “Guys didn’t shoot well tonight, but i give credit to our guys who came down and defended,” said senior Harper Kamp.
