Knicks lose to Nets in Anthony's first game back

2/20/12 New York -- Carmello Anthony finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 turnovers over 37-minutes in a 92-100 loss to the New Jersey Nets (10-24) in his first game back after healing from a grion injury. The New York Knicks, who are 8-2 over the past 10 games, also added J.R. Smith and Baron Davis to their new line-up.
"You can't expect for three new players to join the team and not to make any adjustments," Jeremy Lin acknowledged. "We have to work through some struggles and figure out our chemistry."
The Knicks (16-17) just lost their second game since incerting Lin in the starting line-up which has registered eight wins in this momumental two weeks of "Linsanity". Tonight Lin was matched against Deron Williams, arguablly the best point guard in the NBA, and still finished with 21 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and only 3 turnovers.
Williams scorced the nets for 38 points on 10-of-22 from the field, including 8-of-14 from the arc to put New Jersey on his back. Lin may be the international media darling, but Williams, has not relinquished his spot as the top point guard in the NBA.
Lin hit a three to cut the lead to 11 with 1:10 remaining in the game, until he fouled out 3 rebounds and 1 assist short of his first triple-double. Lin did have 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Knicks tried to make up a 17-point deficit.
The Nets rookie guard MarShon Brooks added 18 points and Kris Humphries contributed a double-double wit h14 points and 14 rebounds. The Nets shot 48% from three to secure the win. |
